Easy Dog Training – Love Accomplishes All Things
Dogs make wonderful pets and there is nothing quite like bringing home a brand new puppy full of anticipation and joy for the years ahead. In this article we focus on some easy dog training tips that will help you bond with your pup and teach him to be obedient.
The following easy dog training methods will be useful in training your dog :
-
The first rule in dog training is to follow verbal commands with actions. If you want to teach your dog to sit, you need to keep repeating the word and gently but firmly pushing the tiny body down into the sitting position

Don’t get tempted by that adorable face or melting brown eyes – be firm in your resolve to train the dog

Reward training: this type of training involves positive reinforcement by rewarding the dog when it does what you command it to do
You have to give the dog a command, for example, ‘sit’ and when it does what you want, you reward this right action. Dogie treats can be given as rewards but should never take the place of praise. Heaping high praise on the dog each time it does what you want will help to reinforce in its little mind that it is doing something you like and you are happy.
A new type of reward training is based on the clicker method. When the dog is obedient to your commands, you use the clicker to indicate to the dog that he is doing good. Following up the clicker noise with a treat soon lets your pup know that he needs to hear the click sound. Slowly over time replace the treat with heaps of praise and then discontinue the clicker altogether.
Agility training is another very good and easy dog training technique. All dogs big and small love a good workout. You have to set up the agility course with simple little fences and maybe a tunnel. Every time the dog successfully jumps over a fence or goes through the tunnel you are teaching him to obey your commands. Having the dog ‘stay’ at the mouth of the tunnel is in effect teaching him the stay command.
Puppies have short attention spans so you need to concentrate on teaching the pup a new command for an entire week at least. Keep the training sessions short and hold them in a place where the pup will not get easily distracted. When your pup’s attention tends to wander or he decides to wander off in search of something more exciting to do; be firm and bring him back to the starting point. He will soon get the message.
Each week add a new command and repeat the old ones as well. Dogs like humans don’t all learn at the same pace, you need to be patient and also consistent in the method of training you use. If you start with the clicker-treat method, continue with it till the dog has learned to obey you. Use these easy dog training methods to bond with your pet and to let him know you are in the leadership position.
Good Luck !
